Vishay presents power panel potentiometer

Vishay Intertechnology today announced a power panel potentiometer with a cermet element to feature a 6W power rating at 50°C.

With US and EU bushing threads and a fully sealed package, the PE60 is intended for industrial and aeronautic control panel and heavy-duty control applications in end products including cockpits, trucks and tractors, HVAC systems, welding machines, tooling machines, field and mine equipment, and water-resistant equipment.

Offering a compact 25-mm diameter, the new Vishay Sfernice device is smaller when compared to other panel potentiometers. Its cermet element provides better stability than carbon elements, while its strong dielectric (2500 VRMS), and non-inductive design offer greater robustness. Custom shafts are available in accordance to drawings supplied by customers.

With resistance ranges from 1Ω to 1MΩ, the potentiometer offers a low 3 per cent typical contact resistance variation and 1 per cent typical end resistance. The device features a standard ±20% tolerance, with tolerances of 5% and 10% available on request. The PE60 provides a maximum operating torque of 4.3 oz.-inch, and an end stop torque of 6 lb.-inch.

An operating temperature range of 55°C to +125°C ensures reliable operation even in extreme environments. The devices electrical performance is in accordance with CECC 41 000.

Samples and production quantities of the PE60 are available now, with lead times of eight to 10 weeks for larger orders.
